Google Makes It Official In Council Bluffs
Google celebrated the grand opening of it's $600 million data center in Council Bluffs on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. This celebration was not only great for Google but for Council Bluffs and the State of Iowa. To have an international business establish a presence in Iowa will be great for our economy and future workforce. Even before their grand opening, Google employees began making a difference in the Council Buffs community and surrounding areas by participating in Student Career Connection events. Google was one of the first Council Bluffs businesses in the Information Technology field that participated in SCC's first Information Technology Career Expo in 2007. They were so well received by the students that they were brought back in 2008 making an even bigger impact. The influence of Google continued as they participated in virtual job shadows where students learned about Google's web applications. Google's participating employees are inspiring high school students about innovation, information technology and how to prepare for a future with unlimited possibilities.
